In addition to being beautiful and luxurious, fiberglass
pools by San Juan Products save homeowners time and money over the life
of the pool, with the major savings coming in reduced outlays for maintenance,
pool chemicals and electricity. Homeowners who choose a San Juan pool
will save as much as 70 percent on chemicals and 30 percent on electricity
costs.
Due to their sturdy fiberglass construction, San Juan fiberglass pools
never need to be resurfaced. By contrast, a typical concrete pool will
require periodic resurfacing, meaning extra outlays of cash for many years
to come. The bottom line is that while a San Juan fiberglass pool may
cost more up front than a vinyl or cement pool, homeowners will more than
make up the difference in savings over the life of the pool.
The smooth fiberglass surface of all San Juan pools makes them easier
and less expensive to maintain than concrete. They also never require
acid washing, and unlike concrete pools with their porous surface, offer
no haven for algae and other undesirable elements. This means fiberglass
pools are also healthier than concrete pools.
The gel-coat surface of a San Juan pool is a polyester MPG-Isothalic resin
with color pigment mixed in. This gel-coat is chemically bonded to the
fiberglass and becomes an integral part of the pool. The 30-32 mill gel-coat
finish is nonporous, chemically inert, and extremely resistant to acids
and oxidizers. Algae cannot penetrate the finish, and any stains which
may form on the gel-coat can easily be removed by adding a stain remover
to the pool water.
